A locked bike was stolen in Windsor town centre last week.
It vanished from a bike rack at the leisure pool, Stovell Road, between 7.20pm and 8.20pm on Wednesday last week.
The men's black specialised Hard Rock bike had a child's seat fitted.
Thefts like this are endemic in the area at the moment.
Now police community message co-ordinator Jeffrey Pick is encouraging owners to hit back by creating their own 'bike passports', taking pictures of their bikes on a mobile phone and sending them to their own emails.
This creates an instant identifying image that can be sent to police immediately after a theft - during the so called 'golden hour' when the thief may still be on the bike, vulnerable to being spotted and caught.
Call 101 with information.
