A new £160,000 footbridge opening next week will link the 250-space Windsor Dials multi-storey car park with shops, cafes and restaurants in the centre of town.
The bridge - between the car park and the Royal Windsor Shopping area adjoining Central Windsor Station - has become a reality after years of negotiations over land ownership and is a key part of the Royal Borough's parking strategy.
The car park it leads onto belongs to the company FM Global Insurance and is used by its staff during the week.
But it will be open to the public during the busy weekend shopping days starting on Friday, October 18.
Cllr Eileen Quick, the Royal Borough's lead member for Windsor, said: "We have waited a long time for this footpath which will undoubtedly encourage people to use the Dials car park."
It can be reached through the Alma Road car park.
