A new £160,000 footbridge linking the 250-space Windsor Dials multi-storey car park with shops, cafes and restaurants in the centre of town has been officially declared open.
The Mayor of Windsor and Maidenhead, Cllr Andrew Jenner, and the Royal Borough cabinet member for highways Cllr Geoffrey Hill did the honours by cutting a ribbon.
The bridge - between the car park and the Royal Windsor Shopping area adjoining Central Windsor Station - has become a reality after years of negotiations over land ownership and is a key part of the borough's parking strategy.
The car park it leads onto belongs to the company FM Global Insurance and is used by its staff during the week.
But it is open to the public on busy weekend shopping days.
It can be reached through the Alma Road car park.
