Cllr David Coppinger, cabinet member for adult services and health, said the time is right for older people, pregnant women, anyone with a health condition, carers and those with a weakened immune system to get the jab.
He added: "GPs are offering the vaccination to eligible patients free and the council's own care staff have already been given vouchers enabling them to get the jab, at no cost to themselves, to protect themselves and the vulnerable people they work with.
"Many pharmacies also offer the flu vaccination for around £10 and I encourage everyone to get themselves protected as soon as possible."
