A petition urging the Royal Borough to do more to support the Windsor Link Railway is set to be discussed at a full council meeting on Tuesday.
The document, containing 1,423 signatures, was handed in at a council meeting in December.
It said: "The Windsor Link Railway is the first privately-led and funded new railway for over 100 years. It aims to give local residents faster and more frequent trains to London, Heathrow and throughout the region from Windsor, Slough, Maidenhead and Ascot. Other benefits include improving the environment, providing more parking and reducing traffic congestion
"I petition the local council to do more to support the Windsor Link Railway."
The plan to build the railway, which would link the town directly with London and Heathrow by joining its two stations, is led by Cllr George Bathurst (Con, Castle Without) who is working on it privately as a businessman.
The meeting is set to take place at Maidenhead Town Hall from 7.30pm.
* A motion stating the council's continued opposition to the expansion of Heathrow Airport is also set to be put forward at the meeting.
It backs a motion by West Sussex County Council supporting the principle of Gatwick Airport expansion.
