A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a car in Old Windsor after he was stopped and searched by the police.
The man, from Old Windsor, was stopped after officers noticed two suspicious cars in a pub car park on Thursday.
A BMW drove away and officers searched a Subaru and found vehicle registration plates which did not belonging to it.
The man from the Subaru was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft, theft from a motor vehicle and theft of a motor vehicle.
He has been released on police bail until June 9 pending further enquiries.
Following a search of the area, the BMW was found abandoned with a broken window.
It had been stolen from an address in Richmond between April 22 and April 24.
