Children at Upton House School got a surprise when they returned after the Easter holiday.
English teacher Sandy Lewin and site manager Nigel Rawlings-Smith had spent hours transforming the pre-prep library at the school in St Leonard's Road, Windsor.
Head of pre-prep Jane Moffat said: "Staff and children alike were completely astonished when the room was finally unveiled last week.
"Colourful images from dozens of wonderful books have been painted on to the walls and the children have had fun spying lots of different characters from their favourite books."
Now the children can settle down on bean bags or in the fairylit castle before getting engrossed in a book.
Mrs Moffat said: "The transformation is fantastic and has definitely reignited the children’s love of reading."
