'Amazed' members of Windsor Lions Club have been overwhelmed by inquiries about next week's free prostate cancer testing event.
The Lions are offering the test at Combermere Barracks in St Leonard's Road on Tuesday between 4.30pm and 8.30pm.
Event Organiser, Lion Diane Purchase said: "We are genuinely amazed at the response – it seems we have truly struck a chord with the male population of Windsor and the surrounding area.
"We have had enquiries from all over the area – throughout Windsor as well as from Maidenhead and Slough. We set a target of 400 tests and it looks as though this will be wildly exceeded. But we have plenty of room for more.”
On offer is a free blood test under the supervision of consultant urological surgeon David Baxter-Smith. All the samples will be tested in a specialised laboratory at Slough's Wexham Park Hospital.
Men can just turn up on the day but photo identification will be needed.
