A greylag goose has been killed by an airgun.
Wendy Hermon, who is co-ordinator at Swan Lifeline rescue centre on Cuckoo Weir Island, Eton, was called out when she received a call from a passer-by to say a bird was injured.
But she arrived at Barry Avenue, Windsor at 6pm yesterday to find the bird dead.
She said: "It had been shot in the neck and was floating dead in the river.
"Apart from the cruelty involved it is horrifying to think someone was loose with a dangerous weapon like that so early in the evening."
