The old saying 'fighting like cats and dogs' has been dispelled by an abandoned kitten and puppy in Old Windsor.
Buttons the dog, and Kitty the cat, both fours weeks old - have fallen in love at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in Priest Hill.
So close is their bond that they sleep together, play together and even feed together and are being reared together.
Kitty was found abandoned on the roadside by a passer-by and Buttons arrived after her mother Poppy gave birth at the centre.
Both are without a mum bur finding comfort under the watchful eye of their foster mum, veterinary Nurse Sascha Taylor.
She said: “Normally we’d hand rear puppies and kittens separately but we thought we could try putting them together as they are both so young.
"Luckily it’s paid off as they adore being with each other and do everything together – it’s really very sweet."
The centre said they have been inundated with interest, but are hoping they are homed together.
