The best stories have happy endings.
Buttons the dog and Kitty the cat captured everyone's imagination when they became inseparable friends at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home at Priest Hill, Old Windsor.
When they made the newspapers - offers of homes came pouring in.
In the end a home in Essex was chosen. But first the owner's own dog had to be introduced to the potential new arrivals.
Would they get on? The Jack Russell terrier who the two would share their new home with was brought down to Old Windsor for the day, then carefully introduced to his potential new housemates.
The meeting was a great success and Buttons and Kitty are due to start their new life in Essex today.
