A motorist who damaged a car park barrier in Windsor to dodge paying £2.50 in parking costs has been sentenced.
Barman Damon Denham of Kingsbury Drive, Old Windsor, appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, where he admitted criminal damage.
The 25-year-old wrecked a barrier when he got his friend to bend back the barrier at the private King Edward Court car park on June 5 before driving through it in his BMW.
Magistrates handed Denham a one-year community order, and ordered him to complete 100 hours of unpaid community work.
He was also told to pay £800 in compensation for the cost of replacing the barrier, £200 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and the £2.50 ticket.
