The medals of a war hero have been stolen in a callous burglary in Windsor.
Between Sunday, November 4 and Monday, November 19, when the victim was away from home, burglars forced open a rear door in Martin Close.
The victim's grandfather's war medals were stolen, including: Military Cross, The Nile 1882 (bar: The Nile 1884-5), 1914-15 Star, 1914-18 British War Medal, 1914-19 Victory Medal, Good Conduct & Long Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (NZ), Khedive Star and Croix de Guerre avec palm.
A safe was also taken.
Det Con Paul Morath, from Maidenhead police station, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information on the stolen items.”
Call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
More than 50 street parties are set to take place this weekend across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and the surrounding areas.
