A 65-year-old man has been arrested by police today in connection with the murder of a teenage girl in Windsor in 1981.
The force arrested him this morning on suspicion of murder and he has been taken into custody for questioning.
The arrest was made by officers from Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Review Team who are re-investigating the murder of 17-year-old Claire Woolterton.
A member of the public found Claire’s body on a towpath alongside Barry Avenue at just after 6am on Friday, August 28, 1981.
She had been stabbed and strangled.
At the time of her death Claire was living with her family in Yeading, west London.
