Nancy Kerr and James Fagan: Multi award-winning folk duo set to impress

A lifelong grounding in traditional singing and instruments have helped make Nancy Kerr and James Fagan one of the most interesting and sought-after duos on the UK folk circuit.

The daughter of London singer-songwriter Sandra Kerr and Northumbrian piper Ron Elliott, Kerr is also a teacher and songwriter, as well as a performer.

In 2015 she was named Folk Singer of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Australian-born multi-instrumentalist Fagan is a regular session musician and even joined Bellowhead for their 2010 Hedonism tour.

He is also a vocal tutor on Newcastle University’s folk music degree course.

Since meeting in 1995 the pair have gone on to have a string of successes as a duo, as well as maintaining their solo careers.

They won the inaugural Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, in 2000.
