Buckinghamshire Council local elections: What you need to know

With the local elections in Buckinghamshire just around the corner, here is the information you need to vote on May 1: polling station locations, registration deadlines, and most importantly, who is standing.

In South Bucks, there will be council seats for the wards of Burnham, Marlow, Iver, Farnhams & Stoke Poges, and Flackwell Heath & The Wooburns.


Burnham

Standing in Burnham ward:

  • Cllr Kirsten Ashman – Conservative (currently ward councillor for Cliveden)

Before voting, everyone must register. The deadline to do so is this Friday, April 11.

It is possible to vote by post, and the deadline to apply is 5pm on Monday, April 14.

If you’re unable to vote in person you can ask someone to vote on your behalf. This is called a proxy vote. The deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday, April 23. 

Town and parish council elections may also be held on May 1. If several candidates put their name forward for a position on a parish or town council, and thus the position is contested, a poll will be held.

This could include Marlow Town Council, Great Marlow Parish Council, Little Marlow Parish Council, Marlow Bottom Parish Council, Wooburn & Bourne End Parish Council, Burnham Parish Council, Dorney Parish Council, Taplow Parish Council, Iver Parish Council, Wexham Parish Council and Farnham Royal Parish Council.
