The Royal Windsor Triathlon will celebrate its 35th anniversary on June 14 with a new addition to its race day – a new standalone 10k run, intended to widen its accessibility.
This historic multisport event set around Windsor Castle, the Thames and the Long Walk sees participants take part in a swim in the river, an open-road bike course, and a run around Windsor’s iconic landmarks.
Over the years, the Royal Windsor Triathlon has welcomed professional triathletes and Olympians, including Stuart Hayes, Michelle Dillon and Emma Pallant-Browne.
The Royal Windsor Triathlon is organised and delivered by RunThrough, which also runs several other running events in the area.
RunThrough says the addition of a standalone 10k ‘creates a new gateway for runners who want to soak up the Royal Windsor atmosphere without taking on the full triathlon.’
It invites club runners, charity runners and first-time racers to join in with the 10k this year.
Matt Wood, co-founder of RunThrough, said: “The Royal Windsor Triathlon has always been a jewel in the crown of British multisport.
“Bringing a dedicated 10k to the event allows us to open the gates of Windsor to even more people – whether they are local runners, charity participants or visitors from across the UK and beyond.
“As a team that lives and breathes running events, we see this as the perfect way to honour 35 years of history while growing the Royal Windsor Triathlon brand for the future.”
Race director Ross Franks added: “We are very fortunate to work with a fantastic group of local stakeholders who share our vision for the Royal Windsor Triathlon.
“The support of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, landowners, local authorities, emergency services, businesses and residents is what makes this event possible each year.
“Adding a standalone 10k is the result of ongoing collaboration with these partners as we look at safe and sustainable ways to grow the event and welcome even more participants to Windsor.”
Entries for the Royal Windsor Triathlon and the new standalone 10k on 14 June 2026 are now open, and runners and triathletes of all levels are invited to be part of this landmark year.
