Following extensive trials held across the country two Maidenhead United Football Academy players have been selected for the England Colleges National men’s team.
Right-back Taro Chitepo and goalkeeper Fred Chapman saw off extensive competition at the trials to earn their selection and will now attend a two-day camp at St George’s Park – the home of English football.
They are both studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Studies at BCA (Berkshire College of Agriculture).
First team coach and academy manager and head of youth development at Maidenhead United, Aaron O’Brien, said: “Fred and Taro are two talented footballers who have had a great start to the season and deserve every success.”
When asked about the experience, Fred explained: “It was an amazing opportunity to attend the England College Trials and I am ecstatic to be accepted into the squad for the 2019/20 season. It’s such an honour to be representing my college and my country.”
BCA runs a football academy in partnership with Maidenhead United, which started in 2015. It offers young footballers the chance to combine high level football training with full-time study. BCA provides further and higher education for approximately 1,500 full-time students.
