Windsor FC are to provide free meals during half-term to any child of school age who qualifies for one.
The meals will be available from the club's Stag Meadow ground in St Leonards Road, Windsor (SL4 3DR) between 12-2pm from tomorrow (Tuesday) until Friday.
The club tweeted its support for Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford’s campaign to end child food poverty, adding: “No child should ever go hungry.
"To help support those in need Windsor FC will be supplying free meals to children of school age.”
Inspired by the End Child Food Poverty campaign launched by Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford, Burnham Juniors have been providing children with free packed lunches this half-term.
Burnham Juniors launched the initiative with Burnham FC to help ensure children who usually rely on free school meals don’t go hungry during the half-term holidays.
Burnham’s Junior tuck shop at the George Pitcher Memorial Ground, also known as the Cherry Orchard, is being used to prepare the lunches and is also the collection point for families.
The club has also launched a fundraising drive to raise £500 towards the cost of the lunches and the appeal has already raised more than £1,500. For more information visit https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/burnham-juniors
Any surplus money left over from the October half-term will go towards providing help for families at Christmas and a donation will also be made to a local charity.
