New Mayor chosen for Windsor and Maidenhead

Outgoing Mayor, Cllr Eileen Quick, with Cllr Sayonara Luxton

The new Mayor of Windsor and Maidenhead has been confirmed as Cllr Sayonara Luxton (Con, Sunningdale).

The current Deputy Mayor will take over from Mayor Eileen Quick on Tuesday, May 24.

Sayonara is excited about her new role and already has ‘lots of plans’.

She said: “I didn’t expect to be chosen as Mayor just because I was deputy but I put my nomination forward at the group meeting before council.”

“I’m very excited and really looking forward to it and it’s a great thing for the south of the borough.”

“My main charity is the The Household Cavalry which supports injured soldiers.

“It’s going to be a busy year.”

Cllr John Lenton (Con, Horton and Wraysbury) has been chosen as Deputy Mayor.

He previously held the position of deputy mayor in 2014.
