Slough Town look to have gained an unlikely fan this week after Hollywood A-lister Mark Wahlberg wished the club good luck for the rest of the season.
Rebels midfielder Matt Lench met the film star while he was taking part in an early morning fitness session at London’s F45 Gym on Sunday, which Wahlberg part owns.
The 27-year-old got chatting to the fitness fanatic who promptly gave a shout-out to the club, who are flying high in the National League South.
In a video message, Wahlberg said: “Alright, good luck to Slough Town in the Conference South, let’s go, inspire to be better.”
Joint boss Neil Baker uploaded the clip to Twitter with the footage racking up hundreds of retweets.
Lench said: “I wasn’t even going to put the video anywhere but I sent it to the team WhatsApp group and Bakes (Neil Baker) said we should put it on Twitter and I couldn’t believe the response.
“The main take is he was a lovely bloke and he was more than willing to give a shout-out and support Slough and if that leads to more people coming through the gate, fantastic.
“All Slough seems to be known for is The Office so a little publicity will do some good.”
Lench said if he sees the actor again at the gym he is hoping to tempt him down to Arbour Park to watch the team’s promotion push.
He added: “I’d be amazed if he came but I’ll definitely give him the call-up and sort him some match tickets.”
Slough travel to third-placed Havant & Waterlooville tomorrow (Saturday) as they aim to continue their promotion push.
