Slough Borough Council has confirmed the planned three-year closure of the Elmshott Lane car park will not go ahead.
The car park was due to be closed and used for storing equipment by contractors during the A4 cycle route works.
This was met with objections and concerns from residents about the negative impact the closure of the Elmshott Lane car park would have.
This prompted an apology from the council, which acknowledged ‘ we should have been better in talking to people about it beforehand’.
In a cabinet committee meeting on Thursday, September 11, members approved plans to dispose of some properties as part of their asset sales list.
In the cabinet meeting, officers said the Maria Cowland Centre in Bower Way, which members agreed to sell, could be used as an alternative site for the contractors to use.
But yesterday (Thursday) Slough Borough Council confirmed that the Tower and Ashbourne House site in Chalvey Park will be used instead.
The site in Chalvey was also approved for sale by the council’s cabinet last year.
In a post on X, the council said it had ‘taken concerns and feedback on board’.
