Firefighters scrambled to put out a blaze near a gas main outside Wexham Park Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit this afternoon.
Crews from Langley and Windsor were called to the hospital grounds at 1.58pm following reports a gas supply housing box had caught alight.
A spokesman for Langley Fire Station said crews had to work swiftly to prevent what could have been a ‘catastrophic’ incident.
Patients and staff from two areas of the hospital were moved to other wards as a precaution, the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust said.
A statement added: “We were notified of a small fire outside Wexham Park Hospital at 1.58pm today.
