A 99-year-old woman and her friend were rescued from a lift in Windsor yesterday.
Firefighters from Windsor station were called to The Meads nursing home in Green Lane at about 1pm.
The pair were stuck in the elevator in the four-story building for about half an hour.
The crew isolated the lift and then winched it to the nearest floor to release the pensioners.
Michael Rowley, fire brigades union representative for Windsor, said: "We kept talking to them and kept them calm until we got them out.
"They were quite appreciative afterwards."
