Parking costs in Windsor are too high said 40 per cent of town residents who responded to a Royal Borough survey.
The survey attracted replies from 438 people, mostly from the borough with 35 per cent coming from the Windsor area.
The views of Windsor respondents varied on how easy it was to find a space to park - with 30 per cent saying it was difficult, particularly in the afternoon. Only 24 per cent thought it was easy.
But while 88 per cent found the quality of the car parks good, 40 per cent thought they cost too much although this referred particularly to King Edward Court which is not run by the borough.
At Thursday's meeting of the Royal Borough's cabinet, members gave the go-ahead to plans for a borough wide 'pay by phone' scheme to be implemented by July for on and off street parking, as well as a range of improvements enabling residents to pay for parking via the website.
