A soldier based at Victoria Barracks in Windsor charged with GBH will appear at court today to enter a plea.
Ashley Dacosta, 20, is alleged to have attacked a 15-year-old boy in De La Warr Parade, Bexhill, Sussex, on October 29.
The teenager suffered severe brain damage.
Dacosta, who grew up in Bexhill, is charged with punching the teenager in the head as he walked home from a beach party on October 29.
He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Lewes Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.
