Ashley Button was on a night out with his friends at Pink Gentleman's Club in Oxford Road East when he attacked the victim in his 20s.
Police said the pair were involved in an altercation in the early hours of Sunday, October 16 last year, and officers believe it started inside before spilling on to the road outside.
The force said 34-year-old Button threw a bottle at his victim and then smashed another beer bottle on a plant pot before running at him and attacking him with it.
They said he cut the man with the sharp bottle edge on his left shoulder, and right side of his neck and the injured victim tried to force his attacker off on the road outside the club.
Club doormen had to pull Button, of Mornington Avenue, Wokingham, from the man before calling police who arrested him at the scene.
He pleaded guilty to committing GBH on February 2 and was sentenced to three years behind bars at Oxford Crown Court on Friday.
