The number of crimes in inner Windsor last month dropped by 68 compared to the same period last year, police have said.

Figures were revealed in a neighbourhood alert update on the force's website by neighbourhood officer PC Val De Haan.

The force said the only serious crime which increased was theft from a motor vehicle, which rose from 13 to 17.

The total for July was 172, compared to 240 last year.

There were 17 assaults in July, down from 28, one house burglary, down from four, one business burglary, compared to six previously, and one theft of motor vehicle, the same as last year.
