A former mayor has criticised the running of Windsor Guildhall saying that staff working there looked 'scruffy'.
The comments were made by Cllr Colin Rayner (Con, Horton and Wraysbury) at a meeting of the Royal Borough's visitor management forum on Thursday.
Julia White, visitor manager at the Royal Borough, was giving a report on the Guildhall, in Windsor High Street, when the comments were made.
Cllr Rayner said: "People have complained when trying to book the Guildhall for functions and the staff who operate there seem to be very scruffy, they now wear sweatshirts which is not suitable for the Guildhall.
"There are some good individuals, but staff are lazy as some don't put a lot of effort into it and the silver is never cleaned which is quite disgusting and quite shameful."
Julia White said she would look into the issues raised by Cllr Rayner, but highlighted restorative work which had taken place at the Guildhall to furniture and Victorian tapestry as well as audio and video work carried out on the Windsor and Royal Borough Museum's Guildhall exhibition.
The meeting took place at Royal Windsor Racecourse, in Maidenhead Road.
