The council's managing director is retiring.
Mike McGaughrin, who has worked for the Royal Borough for two and a half years, is stepping down from his role to focus on his personal life and other interests.
Mr McGaughrin was also the borough's corporate services director.
The Royal Borough says a replacement corporate services director should be appointed by the New Year.
A new managing director will be chosen from the borough's four directors.
Cllr David Burbage, leader of the council, praised Mr McGaughrin's 'strong leadership' in a time where the public sector has experienced 'difficult circumstances'.
