Cllr Jenner, who was mayor in 2013-14, says an interest in law inspired him to become a magistrate.
He said: "I decided it was a way for me to pick an interest and give back to the community by doing something voluntary.
"It's enjoyable, very interesting. The training is ongoing. I've been training for the last 20 years because the law changes.
"It's very gratifying, very interesting and you meet some extraordinary characters."
