Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a dog attacked a two-year-old child in Alexandra Gardens.
A child was playing on her scooter in the centre of Alexandra Gardens with her mother and younger brother when a dog, described as a short-haired brown and white boxer or beagle puppy, approached her.
The dog sniffed around the young girl's leg and then bit her, inflicting injuries on her right calf.
After the attack, the dog owner grabbed the dog and placed it on a red lead but left the park before the police arrived.
Police are trying to identify the dog owner who is described as a white woman in her mids 30's, 5ft 5 ins tall and medium build.
She had dark brown hair cut into a bob and was wearing black sunglasses, black jeans, black boots and a long puffer jacket.
She spoke with a local accent and had a red dog lead.

The attack took place on Friday, March 6 between 2pm and 2.30pm.
