A Royal Borough road sign directing drivers to Ascot has misspelt the name of the Berkshire town.
The sign, which is near the roundabout system in Osborne Road, had Ascot spelt as ‘Ascott’, which is actually a hamlet in Buckinghamshire.
Twitter user @andrewdwford flagged up the spelling gaffe to the Royal Borough after he spotted the sign on Sunday, March 15.
The Royal Borough streetcare team has temporarily covered the missed spelling with white tape until the sign can be permanently fixed.
Elizabeth Hambidge, marketing and communications officer at the Royal Borough, said: “The sign was created by a contractor who will be fixing the incorrect spelling as soon as possible.
“We will be working with the contractor to make sure our Ascot is not confused with Ascott in Buckinghamshire again in the future.”
