Royal Borough councillor Wisdom Da Costa has announced he intends to stand for parliament in May.
The 52-year-old plans to run for the Windsor parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.
The Dedworth resident has pledged to campaign on local issues, including aircraft noise, planning and licensing regulations and budget inconsistencies.
He said he will be making further announcements next week about where he stands on various national issues.
“I'm standing because I believe I can make a difference,” he added. “I want to return democracy to where it belongs, the people.”
Mr Da Costa, who represents Clewer North as a West Windsor Independent Group councillor, said he will put people first, challenge inappropriate dogma, stand up against anti-social conduct by organisations, and hold himself accountable to people and invite their comments using technology and social media.
