The 'ring-a-royal' phone box in Thames Street has been removed so it can undergo urgent repairs.
The box, which stands outside the Harte & Garter Hotel, attracted fame after TV personality Timmy Mallett painted images of the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George on it.
But the Royal Borough's streetcare team has decided the phone box's weathered base needs repairing.
The box was first painted in August 2012 to celebrate Childline's 25th birthday.
More than 50 street parties are set to take place this weekend across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and the surrounding areas.
An independent report into a Conservative councillor has found a breach of the Royal Borough’s code of conduct in a document seen by the Advertiser.
