A mother from Old Windsor charged in connection with the death of her one-year-old child has been sent for trial at Guildford Crown Court.
Kirsty Lee, 25, of Grove Close, appeared alongside her partner, Alistair Bowen, 35, of Drayton Road, Luton, at a hearing at Guildford Magistrates Court today (Tuesday).
The pair are accused of causing or allowing the death of Kirsty’s 23-month old child Cara-Lee-Fanus, who died on May, 29 last year.
Prosecuting, Craig Warsama, told the court how staff at St Peter’s Hospital had alerted Surrey Police after Cara was admitted with ‘an extensive list of injuries’ including burns to the back and severe swelling to the head on Wednesday, May 28.
The one-year-old was transferred to St George’s Hospital in Tooting but died the following day.
Judge Dr Paul Bishop granted the accused conditional bail until their hearing at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, May 8.
