The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in London 'in the early stages of labour', Kensington Palace has confirmed.
A statement was released this morning which said Kate was in hospital and had travelled there by car with the Duke of Cambridge.
The new royal baby will be the second child for Prince William and Kate.
Their first, Prince George, was born in July 2013 at the same hospital in Paddington.
The gender of the new baby is unknown, but its grandfather Prince Charles reportedly told guests at an event at Windsor Castle this week he is hoping it will be a girl.
The Cambridges recently celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary.
Updates to follow.
