Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to baby girl

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a baby girl.

Kensington Palace has confirmed the couple's daughter was born at 8.34am this morning and weighs 8lbs 3oz.

Prince William was present for the birth and mother and child are said to be doing well.

A statement said: "The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news."

The baby is fourth in line to the throne, after Prince Charles, Prince William and her older brother Prince George.

The baby's name will be announced in due course.
