Royal Swan Upping 2015: When and where to catch the boats in the Royal Borough

The annual census of the swan population will start on Monday.

This year’s Swan Upping will run all week, starting in Sunbury and ending in Abingdon.

The Swan Upping boats will be in the Royal Borough area between Monday and Wednesday.

David Barber, the Queen’s swan marker, said: “Young children are fascinated by the sight of young cygnets and are keen to learn about the ecology of the mute swan and the history of Swan Upping, as well as being intrigued by the royal connection to swans.”

The approximate observation times are: Romney Lock at 5.30pm on Monday, departing from Eton Bridge at 8.45am the following day.

The next stops will be Boveney Lock at 9.45am, Boulters Lock at 1pm, Cookham Bridge 2pm and Marlow Lock 5.30pm.

They will be back at Sonning Bridge at 6pm on Wednesday and at Sonning on Thames at 9am on Thursday.
