Firefighters called to hotel fire in Windsor

James Harrison

Firefighters were called to deal with a blaze at the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel, in Thames Street, Windsor, last night.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at about midnight, after a fire broke out in the staff toilets and changing area on the ground floor.

A full evacuation had already been carried out by the time crews arrived.

Fire crews from Windsor, Ascot and Slough attended and took about an hour and a half to extinguish the blaze and ventilate the area with a high pressure fan.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The cause is currently unknown, but investigators are due to start work today.
