Eight taxi drivers have had their licences revoked in the past eight weeks.
The Royal Borough has taken action for reasons including drink-driving and criminal activity.
Licensing team leader Alan Barwise said the number of reviews was ‘much higher than average’, but said the team is dealing with a backlog after a member of staff left.
He said both hackney carriage and minicab licences had been revoked.
At a cabinet meeting on Thursday, July 30, councillors discussed a proposal to include child sexual exploitation in the licensing agreement.
Two taxi licences have been revoked this year in order to ‘protect children from harm’.
