Television presenter Rachel Riley will participate in the British Cycling Breeze Challenge Event in Windsor on Sunday, August 23.
The co-host of Channel 4’s popular Countdown programme will be taking on the 50k challenge at this women-only cycling event.
“I’ve always ridden a bike around London, it’s the best way to see things,” said Rachel.
“As well as getting from A to B, cycling keeps me fit too – as I hate going to the gym and using the tread mill. I guess I talk about this a lot on Countdown because the sponsors asked if I would become an ambassador for this event, which I’m very happy to do.”
Rachel added: “The cycling community are a friendly bunch and I welcome this opportunity to be a part of the Breeze challenge as its ambassador. Making it a women only event is good because not many of us normally participate, because of our busy lifestyles; but this event is a level playing field as we’re pitching ourselves against the same body shape and at our own pace.”
Breeze Challenge Events are designed to be the next leg of the journey for many women who have developed their confidence and cycling skills and are looking for an exciting new challenge to train and prepare for.
Rachel, a former Strictly Come Dancing competitor, will be leading the 50k race and offering words of encouragement to participating riders along the roads of Windsor.
There are two routes at 50km and 100km through Windsor. To register interest for this event visit www.breezechallenge.com.
