Adventure awaits for one Windsor woman who will take part in the Ice Warrior challenge.
Kayley Arthington from Oxford Road, Windsor, will complete the Ice Warrior challenge next year after being selected to take part by adventurer Jim McNeil.
The challenge involves training ordinary people to become modern-day explorers, and will involve a world-record attempt to reach unchartered polar territory.
The trip will be turned into a documentary series and shown on the Discovery Channel.
The maintenance engineer from Windsor has always been a keen explorer, having backpacked to Japan and spent two years in Tanzania teaching electrical engineering.
Next week the 36-year-old will go on a two week intensive training course with her teammates that will cover the basics of Polar practices including how to pick a spot to pitch on the ice and how to keep warm.
She said: “I almost pulled out when I found it was going to be filmed, but have been assured that it won’t be reality television and that it will be a true depiction of the journey. The cameraman will be a full member of the team and be a part of an expedition, they will be dragging their own sled, and we will all have cameras attached to ourselves and kit.”
Kayley will have to raise £20,000 for her trip. Visit www.KayleysCapers.com for more information.
