South West Trains will reinstate its 7.24am service from Reading to Waterloo after announcing it would cut rush-hour services last month.
The service was removed from the timetable in a bid to speed up a £275m upgrade of carriages, but will be back in service from Monday, running at a slightly earlier time of 7.21am due to the introduction of the autumn timetable.
The firm is aiming to add 258 more carriages between now and 2018 – a 30 per cent increase in peak time capacity – and carriages are scheduled to be sent away for modifications and refurbishment as the changes take place.
