Crowds witnessed an alien invasion on Saturday as Royal Windsor Racecourse hosted a fireworks production of The War of the Worlds.
Set to Jeff Wayne’s multi million-selling musical version of the famous H G Wells sci-fi thriller, the show featured fireworks and special effects including a 30ft high Martian and its deadly heat ray.
The unmistakable voice of actor Liam Neeson, best known for his roles in Schindler’s List and the Taken series, provided the narration for the story.
The storyline followed the tale of how civilisation was saved by bacteria following Earth’s invasion by Mars.
Fantastic Fireworks once again organised this year’s display, which marked the company’s 30th anniversary.
Scott Newman, from Englefield Green, visited with his family and said: “We saw the War Horse fireworks here last year and it was so good we had to come back.
“My one criticism was that the sound could have been better to hear the narration but it was a brilliant display and the War of the Worlds theme was perfect.
“The kids were spellbound.”
