Grammy award winning musician Sir Elton John has revealed he spends his Saturdays tucking into pizza and browsing for books in Windsor.
Appearing on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, the Rocket Man singer told fellow guest Jack Black he would be winding down his touring to spend more time with his partner, David Furnish, and their two sons.
The 68-year-old said: “On Saturdays our ritual is we go to Pizza Hut* in Windsor for lunch and David and I take them to Waterstones and we buy them a book and after they get to choose one little thing they can have as a treat, like a Lego thing.
“We walk round the town and we come home and they have ice cream and a balloon maybe. We go to Lapland, we have been to Legoland and we have been to Disneyland.
“It’s what you do with children. It’s the fun thing about it. The great thing is just watching them and seeing their faces.”
The superstar, who chose to register his civil partnership at Windsor Guildhall and later married David in the town, admitted he picks a more low-key outfit for his trips to Legoland.
Sir Elton John, who has sold more than 250 million records worldwide, will headline the opening night of Henley Festival later this summer, closing the Floating Stage on Wednesday, July 6, as one of only five planned performances in the UK this year.
