A Valentine's tea dance in aid of St Michaels and All Angels church took place at Northcote House yesterday (Sunday).
More than 90 people attended the event which included afternoon tea, champagne and dancing.
The event, organised by Edith Hunter and Ann Evans, raised money for the refurbishment of the roof at the church in Sunninghill.
About £200,000 is needed to fix the roof and so far the church committee have raised £170,000, which includes a grant from the Heritage Trust.
Edith said: “We’ve only got £30,000 left to raise and we would like to start work by the end of the year.
“Our guests are local people who have been supporting the cause and the hotel have gifted us the room for today free of charge.
“We’ve had other events such as a garden party, barbecue and a Christmas concert to raise funds.”
Reverend Stephen Johnson was playing piano at the concert with his wife Rachael. He said: “It’s great to come and perform here today outside of my day job, though I’d be here anyway.”
