A trip to the big apple has been awarded to a fundraiser for a hospice charity.
Kate Atkinson, from Old Windsor, was the highest fundraiser at Thames Hospice’s annual Santa Dash which took place in Bracknell on November 29.
For her efforts she won two flights to New York donated by Carole Farr from BA Clubs Ltd.
Kate’s sister Hattie died at Thames Hospice aged 24. Hatti was at the hospice at the same time as Carole’s sister.
Carole said: “It is ironic that both our sisters were at Thames Hospice at the same time. I am so pleased they have gone to such a lovely, deserving person and I hope she has a wonderful time.”
Flight winner Kate said she has always wanted to go to New York.
“I can only imagine that there has been some celestial intervention by my sister,” she said. “For making me do a 5K run and by guiding me to hound my friends and family for their financial support.
“Hatti would be so pleased that money is being raised for Thames Hospice.
“She was overwhelmed by how caring the team were to her and our family in those very difficult last few weeks. We will be forever grateful.”
