A healthy supper club is just one of the regular events organised by an award winning volunteer.
Emma Kenny, 41, from Windsor is a volunteer with Diabetes UK.
On Saturday, March 19, she won the Supporting Others Award at the charity’s regional Inspire Awards held in Basingstoke.
Emma was elected as chair of the East Berkshire group in 2011 and has developed an innovative programme of events for those affected by or at risk of developing diabetes.
The dedicated volunteer has organised a schedule of supper club events where members host diabetes friends meals.
Her fundraising events include food tasting nights and a partnership with celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson during Diabetes Week.
Emma said: “One of the most rewarding aspects of volunteering for Diabetes UK is getting to know and, I hope, helping local people.”
More than 50 street parties are set to take place this weekend across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and the surrounding areas.
An independent report into a Conservative councillor has found a breach of the Royal Borough’s code of conduct in a document seen by the Advertiser.
