A former Windsor Triathlon champion will return as the creator of this year’s medal.
Triathlete and artist Vanessa Raw will design the medal that will be given to the 3,000 finishers at the 2016 triathlon on Sunday, June 12.
Vanessa won the triathlon in 2010 and now balances a hectic training schedule with time in the studio creating her masterpieces.
The design of the medal will be revealed closer to the triathlon.
Vanessa said: "Windsor Triathlon holds a lot of fond memories, with it also being the first Olympic event I ever took part in.
“When asked to design the medal, I was pleased to be able to give something back. I hope all the competitors have a fantastic experience too.”
Nick Rusling, CEO of race organiser Human Race, said Vanessa has come up with an ‘elegant and pertinent design’.
He said: "We are all massive fans of Vanessa's work, so were thrilled when she agreed to work with us on this project.
“This is a very special medal, which every triathlete professional or amateur will want to add to their collection.”
More than 50 street parties are set to take place this weekend across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and the surrounding areas.
An independent report into a Conservative councillor has found a breach of the Royal Borough’s code of conduct in a document seen by the Advertiser.
